Message from the Director

I hope you had a rewarding winter with plenty of thoughts and dreams about your next visit to Isle Royale National Park!  With the arrival of spring, the Isle Royale Institute is focusing on two important components of its mission: (1) preparations for research and education programs during the warmer months ahead, and (2) completion of a new business plan to guide the Institute in the years ahead.  As for this year’s programming, we continue to administer and support the volunteer expeditions of Michigan Tech’s wolf-moose study www.isleroyalewolf.org and the Road Scholar programs of Elderhostel, Inc. www.roadscholar.org. These offerings complement our continued work with Michigan Tech’s Teacher Professional Development program (www.ed.mtu.edu/pd.html) and development of lodge-based adult education opportunities in collaboration with Forever Resorts, Inc.  If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions regarding the mission and future programming of the Isle Royale Institute, please do not hesitate to contact me at kjvrana@mtu.edu.
